Infertility

Primary infertility is the inability to conceive in a couple who have had no previous pregnancies.

Secondary infertility is the inability to conceive in a couple who have had at least one previous pregnancy, which may have ended in a live birth, stillbirth, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or induced abortion.

Up to 25% of couples will have difficulty in conceiving at some point during their lives. In the majority of couples this difficulty will resolve following conservative management or active treatment.

Women who are fertile experience a natural period of fertility before and during ovulation, and they are naturally infertile during the rest of the menstrual cycle. Fertility awareness methods are used to discern when these changes occur by tracking changes in cervical mucus or basal body temperature.

The key to the popularity of Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine is its effectiveness in restoring the natural balance of the human body.  It can improve chances of conception, regulate hormones, increase the body basal temperature, thicken the lining of the uterus and  sperm count in males, bring on ovulation and much more by strengthening Kidney, Liver Spleen internal organ function.  We treat female infertility as well male infertility.

Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine take an holistic approach to understanding infertility processes and focuses as much on prevention of infertility as on the treatment of health conditions. Treatment targets not just the presenting signs and symptoms - it looks at the underlying condition, other health problems and the general state of health and well - being.

Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can stimulate ovulation as well as regulate ovulatory issues.  Through researches and clinical observation, Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are able to increase progesterone level and regulate FSH(which stimulates follicle growth) and estrogen(which increase as the follicle grows), LH(which heralds the imminent release of the egg) levels.

In Chinese medicine viewpoint, proper balance of these hormones is a key to women's ability to conceive.  Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine have been found to regulate all of these hormones by helping to balance the hypothalamic pituitary - ovarian axis and both reproductive and stress hormones, to be able to have more healthier menstrual cycles, thereby increasing a greater chance of pregnancy.
